Xcode Set Ios Version

broken image

The version history of the mobile operating system iOS, developed by Apple Inc., began with the release of iPhone OS 1 for the original iPhone on June 29, 2007. Since its initial release, it has been used as the operating system for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and HomePod, seeing continuous development since then, resulting in new major releases of the software typically being announced at the.

Select Product Destination Any iOS Device. Select Runner in the Xcode project navigator, then select the Runner target in the settings view sidebar. In the Identity section, update the Version to the user-facing version number you wish to publish. Note that using the latest Xcode does not prevent your application from targeting older iOS versions. The iOS versions you support is based upon your Info.plist entry and the APIs your application uses. It is possible to install multiple versions of Xcode side-by-side, with different names such as Xcode101.app and Xcode102.app.

If you create a new project in Xcode 5 you'll notice that it won't allow you to change the deployment target to anything less than 7.0. The drop down menu is there but it's greyed out and shows no other values.

  • New iOS projects in Xcode 11 have their deployment target set to iOS 13. The deployment target is the earliest version of iOS that can run the app. A new Xcode 11 iOS project will not run on earlier iOS versions unless you change the deployment target to an earlier version of iOS.
  • Swift version: 5.2 Paul Hudson @twostraws October 25th 2019 By default the iOS Simulator shows whatever the time is on your Mac, but you can use Xcode's simctl command to override that with a custom time.

You can type something in that field (for example 6.1), but when you do an error message appears telling you something about architectures.

What Xcode is trying to say is that by default, new projects are being compiled for the ARM 64-bit chipset, currently only present in iPhone 5s and the new iPad Air/iPad Mini 2. Since only iOS 7 supports this architecture, Xcode won't allow you to specify a lower iOS Version than 7.

To allow this you must change the Architectures from Standard Architectures (including 64-bit) to Standard Architectures. To do this, head over to your Target – Build Settings – Architectures.

Now head back over to the General tab and find a well populated drop down menu with all your favourite older iOS Versions.

Xcode 5 is clever enough the other way though: if you change the Architectures back to 64-bit it'll switch back to an iOS 7 deployment target for you and even tells you so. This may perhaps become a bit easier to manage in an upcoming release of Xcode.

Xcode is a complete developer toolset for creating apps for Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple TV. Xcode brings user interface design, coding, testing, debugging, and submitting to the App Store all into a unified workflow.

Downloading and updating Xcode

The current release of Xcode is available as a free download from the Mac App Store. The Mac App Store will notify you when an update is available or you can have macOS update automatically as it becomes available.

The latest beta version and previous versions of Xcode can be downloaded from the Downloads page. To download Xcode, simply sign in with your Apple ID.Apple Developer Program membership is not required.

Using Xcode

Get step-by-step guidance on how to use Xcode to build, test, and submit apps to the App Store.

Submitting apps to the App Store using Xcode

If you're an Apple Developer Program member, Xcode provides an integrated workflow to prepare and submit apps to App Store. You should use the latest version of Xcode available on the Mac App Store to submit your apps, or when available, the latest GM seed release from the Downloads page.

Do not submit apps built using beta software, as beta versions of Xcode, Operating Systems, and SDKs are for development and testing only.

Learning about changes to Xcode

To learn about the latest features and capabilities in Xcode, see What's New in Xcode. For update details in the latest released versions, including each beta release, see the Xcode Release Notes.

Invalid private key and certificate pairing

If you received an error message saying, 'Xcode could not find a valid private-key/certificate pair for this profile in your keychain.' This error message indicates that the Keychain Access application on your Mac is missing either the public or private key for the certificate you are using to sign your app.

This often happens when you are trying to sign and build your app from a different Mac than the one you originally used to request your code signing certificate. It can also happen if your certificate has expired or has been revoked. Ensure that your app's provisioning profile contains a valid code signing certificate, and that the Keychain Access application on your Mac contains that certificate, the private key originally used to generate that certificate, and the WWDR Intermediate Certificate.

For instructions on how to resolve this and other code signing errors, review the Code Signing Support page.
